Have you ever heard of Easter? Easter is a holiday celebrated in late March or early April, and it welcomes in new life and a new spring season. Easter isn’t as widely celebrated as Christmas or Halloween, but some people still decorate their stores and houses with Easter decorations. Some decorations include bunnies, eggs, and chicks, and spring-like colors including yellow, pink, and green. We can also eat huge chocolate Easter bunnies, and cream-filled chocolate eggs on Easter. Yummy!
Keep your eyes out when you visit stores. Yummy! Maybe you’ll see a few Easter related decorations.
Everyone, do you like to play sports? If so, which ones? I enjoy playing soccer and basketball. When I was in elementary school, I played baseball, too. I think that playing sports is a fun way to make friends and stay healthy. It can be hard, though, to try new sports because there are so many different sports to choose from! That’s why it’s important to talk to friends, hear new ideas, and try new things. Sometimes you might find that a sport you don’t like at first grows on you. So, let’s challenge ourselves to try as many sports as possible!
Everyone, have you ever gotten to name a pet? Maybe a cat or dog, bird or beetle? If so, what did you name it?
There are many names people often use for pets. In the United States, for example, dogs are often named Buddy or Spot. While these are good pet names, for some reason, I have always liked names that are a little bit different. When I was in elementary school, for instance, I named my pet lizard “Chocolate Milk.” That’s quite an unusual name, don’t you think? I chose the name because I loved drinking chocolate milk and the lizard was brown, like chocolate. I hope Chocolate Milk didn’t mind his odd name!
If you could be any animal for one day, what kind of animal would you like to be? A dog or cat, bear or lion? For me, the answer is simple: a dolphin! Dolphins swim so gracefully it’s like they’re flying under water. They’re also smart, social, and can even talk to each other. I think it would be fun to be a dolphin for a day. I would like to catch fish, swim fast, and jump high out of the water all day long. What would you do if you could be an animal for a day?
Happy New Year! I’m excited for the start of a new year. How was your New Year’s vacation? Did you get to spend time with your family, eat yummy food, and play games? My favorite part of New Year’s growing up was watching the Peach Drop in my home city of Atlanta, Georgia. In Georgia, many peaches are harvested, so it’s our favorite fruit. On New Year’s Eve, a giant peach is raised in the air, and it drops at midnight to mark the New Year! There were always many people who went to watch to Peach Drop, so sometimes my family would just watch it on TV. It was our special New Year’s tradition. What kind of special traditions do you have with your family?
It’s now almost the end of December — that means it’s the holiday season! When you step outside you can see Christmas lights and hear Christmas songs all around you. Many shops, and even train stations, are now covered in Christmas decorations. I normally hang out with my family and friends for Christmas. We eat lots of tasty foods, like turkey, pie, and cranberry sauce. It’s all so yummy. We also like to watch Christmas movies and sing Christmas songs together. As for New Year’s, I gather with my friends and we count down to the new year at midnight. It’s a lot of fun. What do you do for Christmas and New Year’s?
Where do you normally play Hide and Seek? At home, school, or on the playground? When I was growing up, I had a big forest near my house. There, all the children in the neighborhood would gather together and play. We hid behind tree trunks and rocks, and sometimes even ducked inside holes and covered them with branches.
One day my family moved to the city, and I no longer had much space to play. I missed the forest and my old hiding spaces. But then my brothers asked me to play with them inside our new house. It was hard at first, but I slowly learned how to hide in small areas, and eventually it become just as fun as the old forest. I learned then that you don’t need huge areas or special toys to have fun. Sometimes, in fact, less is more!
まあ、つまり「Less is More！（より少ないことは、より豊かなこと」ですね！
“Boxes and Sticks, Spaceships and Lightsabers (箱と棒、宇宙船とライトセーバー)”
Nice to meet you. My name is Patrick. I’m from Georgia in the United States. What’s your favorite movie? Mine is Star Wars. When I was little, my friends and I would play and pretend that we were in the Star Wars universe. We made spaceships out of boxes, lightsabers from sticks, and masks with pillow-covers. Playing was even more fun than watching the movie itself! Now, there many Star Wars movies, video games, and cartoons, and I still love them all. Do you ever pretend you are in your favorite movie or cartoon?
